#studyabroad - safer than home?
Many people often cite “safety concerns” as an argument against studying abroad, or at least, against studying abroad in CERTAIN locations, thinking that they are “safer” by staying in their home city/state/country. A recent report by the Institute for Economics and Peace strongly refutes this general claim.
In the report, the United States rankes 88th on the Global Peace Index - behind nearly EVERY API study abroad destination, including the following:
- Ireland (6th)
- Qatar (12th)
- Germany (15th)
- Hungary (17th)
- Poland (24th)
- Spain (25th)
- United Kingdom (29th)
- Chile (30th)
- Croatia (35th)
- Costa Rica (36th)
- Italy (38th)
- France (40th)
- Argentina (44th)
- United Arab Emirates (46th)
